The museum houses its own impressive permanent collection of 20th
century American art while also frequently playing host to visiting
collections from other prestigious museums. Allow an hour or more for a
visit. Open Tues.-Sat. 10am-5pm, Sun. 1-5pm. Fri. until 8pm in the

Colburn Earth Science Museum

Explore the rich treasures of the earth at this museum called "a mini-Sithsonian
of gems" by the Washington Post. Allow one to three hours for a

The Health Adventure
The Health Adventure is dedicated to improving the health and science
literacy of children and adults. Diversity is a hallmark of The Health
Adventure with over 40 different programs about physical and emotional
health and related science.
YMI Cultural Center
The YMI Cultural Center is a community-based, non-profit organization
which seeks to enhance the cultural and economic lives of residents of
Western North Carolina, particularly minority and low-income people. The
YMI Cultural Center focuses on three program areas: Cultural Arts,
Economic Development, and Community Education. The YMI Cultural Center
serves as an educational forum creating greater awareness of our

circa 1840 by James McConnell Smith, the Smith McDowell House is
Asheville's oldest surviving house and the oldest brick house in

Folk Art Center

The Center is the home of the Southern Highland Craft Guild,
representing craft artists from Southern Appalachia. The Allanstand
Craft Shop carries the work of over 300 of these guild members. Upstairs
the Folk Art Center offers a gallery which showcases changing exhibits
of regional and national scope. Daily craft demonstrations
April-December. Open daily 9am-6pm, Apr.-Dec.; 9am-5pm Jan.-Mar.

Wheels Through Time Museum
Will sweep you back in time with its astounding presentation of vintage
transportation, plus memorabilia and historical exhibits. The museum
offers the world’s largest collection of rare American motorcycles and
cars from each decade of America’s automobile history. The collection
contains over 250 antique American motorcycles and automobiles from 1903
